Thematic exhibition “Activities of the Latvian Union "Chernobyl"”Print

On September 10, museum will open exhibition dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the world's largest nuclear accident that happened at Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Exhibition depicts social rehabilitation system, honours activists and perpetuating the heroic deeds of the Latvian population in liquidating the consequences of the accident.

The accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (Ukraine) took place on April 26, 1986, after that the prolonged spread radioactive contaminated parts of Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and other countries. Significant resources were mobilized to localize the consequences of the accident, more than 800 000 people, including more than 6 000 people of Latvia.
