Activities, functions and key tasks of the authority
- Collect, preserve, study, assemble and promote, items in museum collection, ensure their conservation, etc.;
- to carry out research on of fire safety history, firefighting and civil protection, development of fire and civil protection services in Latvia and to publish those research materials;
- for public ensure free access to museum, including in virtual form, giving information regarding the museum collection in the digitized National Museum Collection database;
- to promote fire safety and civil protection and to carry out scientific and educational work for society;
- to design, arrange, maintain and constantly update museum expositions and exhibitions;
- to provide museum visitors with the services of tour guides, to provide consultations, to prepare and organize lectures, museum pedagogical program classes and thematic events;
- to help public develop a correct understanding of fire safety, firefighting, civil protection and actions in the event of disasters;
- to promote the skills and abilities for museum visitors that is necessary in extreme situations;
- to maintain and develop the infrastructure necessary for the successful fulfilment of the museum's mission;
- to organize constant improvement of professional knowledge and communication skills of museum tour guides;
- to conduct surveys, analyse the results of those and improve museum's service.
