On September 1, 1979, in honour of the conference of the International Firefighting Association (CTIF) organized by the USSR and the World Championship in firefighting sports, that was held at the Dinamo Stadium and technical exhibition of firefighting was solemnly opened at Hanzas Street 5, future place of firefighting museum . In 1980, the exhibition received the status of a museum.
