The idea of the Firefighting Museum was born already a hundred years ago, when the First Latvian Firefighters' Congress adopted a resolution on the establishment of the Firefighting Museum in May 1921. The Museum existed until 1940.
On 4 September 1978, during the Conference of the International Association of Firefighters (CTIF) and the fire sports competitions of the Socialist Commonwealth countries, an exhibition of firefighting equipment, created in cooperation between the Fire Department staff and members of voluntary firefighting associations, was opened.
On 4 September, the management and staff of the State Fire and Rescue Service, museum employees and veterans gathered at the museum for the opening of a thematic exhibition dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the museum's existence. After visiting the exhibition, the participants of the event took a group photo in the Firefighters' Square in front of the Museum building and shared their memories and visions for the future over a cup of coffee.
The Latvian Firefighting Museum would like to thank the former employees, fans and supporters for their contribution to the development of the Museum!
