Ministry of Interior commemorative Medal awarded to honor of the participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant accident
The commemorative Medal established in 2015 as a sign of honor and respect and gratitude to the participants in the elimination of the consequences of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant accident (Ukraine) for their heroic deed for the benefit of humanity.
If the person to be awarded is deceased, the commemorative Medal is presented to his spouse or descendants, but if there are no descendants, then to the closest ascending relatives or brothers and sisters.
More than 6,000 Latvian residents participated in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident. Until now, the commemorative Medal has been presented to 1,767 people in solemn circumstances.
