Anat Jemelj

Sadly, in the 83rd year of his life, Anatoly Jemelyanov, a veteran of the State Fire and Rescue Service, a retired colonel, ex. Deputy Chief of the Latvian Fire Department, habilitated doctor of engineering sciences, RTU professor and state emeritus scientist, passed away.

A. Jemeļjanovs was born in Daugavpils, on July 30, 1937, graduated from the RPI Faculty of Chemistry in 1956, graduated from the Leningrad Fire Technical School in 1958. Served in various positions in Latvian firefighting service, after retirement continued his pedagogical work at the Riga Polytechnic Institute, later Professor and Member of the Senate of Riga Technical University, Chairman of the Doctoral Dissertation Council of the World Expert Qualification Committee, Chairman of the Technological Safety Council, Academician of the International Academy of Ecology and Nature Support.

The author of more than 300 scientific publications, the winner of the Latvian State Prize for Science, has been working on behalf of the UN to develop a strategy for reducing the risk of technogenic and natural disasters, using innovative concepts and paradigms.

Anatolijs Jemeļjanovs, one of the brightest Latvia scientists, has laid a solid foundation for the development of science and technology in the field of fire safety, firefighting, civil protection and technogenic safety, developed an educational model and system and actively participated in the training of young qualified fire and civil protection engineers.

We mourn and sympathize with the relatives of Anatoly Jemelyanov, so that the sand is light.
